1080p is the resolution where spending more stops paying off fastest. This ranking weights performance per dollar heavily, because at 1920x1080 the difference between a good card and an expensive one is often frames your monitor cannot display.

1440p is where most high-refresh gaming monitors sit, and where the price and performance curves meet most usefully. This ranking balances raw performance against memory headroom and value rather than optimising for any one of them.

4K is roughly 2.3 times the pixel count of 1440p, and it is unforgiving of a narrow memory bus or a small memory pool. This ranking weights 4K performance and VRAM heavily and excludes cards with under 12 GB of memory.

This ranking covers cards priced at $350 or below. At this end of the market the differences between products are large in percentage terms and small in absolute money, so a careful choice is worth more here than anywhere else in the range.

Common questions about CompareYourGPU
How does CompareYourGPU decide which graphics card to recommend?
Your answers about resolution, frame-rate target, ray tracing and budget adjust a set of weights across six criteria: performance, value, VRAM, ray tracing, efficiency and features. Every card in the database is scored against those weights and the result is shown with the full breakdown, so you can see exactly which criterion produced the score and disagree with it if your priorities differ.
Are the frame-rate figures on this site measured?
No. CompareYourGPU publishes an estimated performance index aggregated from public review coverage, and models frame-rate ranges from it. Both are labelled as estimates everywhere they appear. The separate measured benchmark database only accepts runs that can be attributed to a named, linkable source, and it is empty until such runs are transcribed.
Why do some cards show no current price?
Because CompareYourGPU only shows a current price where it has actually observed and dated one. Cards without one are shown at launch MSRP and labelled as such, rather than printing a number it cannot stand behind. Value scores use the verified price where one exists and launch MSRP otherwise, and each figure says which.
Does CompareYourGPU get paid for its recommendations?
Some retailer links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, CompareYourGPU earns a small commission at no cost to you, and that is disclosed wherever they appear. They have no effect on scoring or ranking: every recommendation on the site is computed from the database by the same rules, and no manufacturer or retailer can change a placement.
How many graphics cards does CompareYourGPU track?
The database currently covers current and recent desktop cards from NVIDIA, AMD and Intel across every price segment. Coverage is deliberately narrower than an exhaustive specification database because every entry is checked against the manufacturer's published figures.
